Working Methods

Clients get as much help, direction, and advice as they either need or want. I am not running a 'production line'. I do sometimes 'push' people to get a performance but I am also very patient! You will be encouraged to evaluate your voice, speech rhythms, pitch, tone, and pronunciation. Tapes can be highly personalised to reflect your personality. It is not a case of 'listen to this bunch of fake commercials and we'll stick your voice on five of them'. I am not holding out the false incentive of 'work if I like your voice'. You get 6 very full and uninterrupted hours of my time, patience, energy, resources, and facilities. If you need a simple tape with a few commercials, commentaries, or speeches then I offer a 3 hour session at a lower price.

If you would like to hear tapes produced by me I can send you, if you first send me £5, "The Demo Demo" - a highly entertaining 30 minute tape with several examples for you to evaluate. The £5 is fully refundable against a subsequent session. If you are seriously thinking of making a tape this cassette is invaluable. It lets you hear the work of very successful and well known 'voices' (produced by me) and gives you an idea of the required standard. It also lets you hear the work (?) of one of the Cowboys!! I have only ever had one dissatisfied client (written details on request!). Until very recently I used to say that I had not had any dissatisfied clients ever - which probably sounded very suspicious. I am confident that I offer the best service, value, and quality. I make the following offer: If you are not happy with the results you can leave at any time without paying anything. Any recorded material will remain with me. If you book a 6 hour session and finish (or stop) in less time I will only charge you for the time used - 3 hours minimum charge. But remember that I do need to talk to you first - I am selective.

Some people go to one of the 'cowboys' first - they invariably pay a lot more than I would have charged them - and then come to me to get the job done properly. The streets of London are paved more with extract of dog than they are with gold! You do not need 'lessons' they are a waste of time and money. The only way to learn is by hearing yourself recorded and by taking precise direction. Some of the 'Cowboys' expect you to write your own scripts. Scriptwriting is a separate skill. Potential employers either want to hear how you cope with genuine, known, scripts, or a sound collage of your previous work.
